Comment:
In the heart of Yangon, Shwedagon is a beautiful set of temples created to house three hair relics of the Buddha. The temple complex was beautiful both day and illuminated at night and filled with hundreds of Buddha and deity statues. Another view on the structure was shared by a Thai traveler who reminded me that much of the gold for the stupa came from a gold Buddha stolen from Thailand in one of the many wars between the countries and melted down to furnish the leaf for the Shwedagon stupa.
