Razor Ridge In The Hills Above Taipei!

One
only needs to drive an hour out of Taipei in almost any direction to come
into some of the most amazing countryside. Snaking between the tops of
three mountains is a narrow ridge just like a razor that can put you between
two amazing valleys looking down into the jungles of Taiwan.
The area is about an hour long motorcycle ride past the Taipei Zoo into
the mountains behind MuCha. Upon arriving at the site, you have about
10,000 stairs to look forward to before the climb gets really exciting
by turning into a series of ropes and mud ramps that are great at helping
you break-in your new jeans by covering them with mud, sticks, leaves
and other debris.
After a climb of about 45 minutes you reach the top of one end of the ridge
running along the tops of three mountains. The ridge is literally at a point
and on both sides you have a several hundred foot drop into the tree-line
The ridge itself is bear sandstone that tends to be a bit slippery which
of course adds to the fun of this sort of trip.
The part that has always made this trip so special is being up on the
top to watch the sunset. While it makes for a risky walk down, watching
g the sun set over the Taiwan mountains, or a sea of clouds is just another
incredible experience to be found here in Taiwan.
